ABOUT

Brenton-James (BJ) Glover

With an ability to observe the world around me in a unique way, photography almost comes as second nature. I initially became interested in photography when I would shoot with Kodak 35mm One-Time-Use Disposable Camera’s. When 27 exposures just wasn’t enough, I started traveling with up to ten of these bodies for a two week trip. I then began to have a deeper interest in what makes an image, more than just framing a scene.

I got my first SLR (Canon) which allowed me to travel with multiple roles of film and learn the fundamentals of photography. As I began to understand the relationship between exposure, aperture and shutter speed; I began to experiment further during the developing process through the manipulation of chemicals and light.

When digital cameras became more accessible in the mid 2000’s, I began to experiment with some lower cost point-and-shoot’s; and this is where I transitioned to Olympus. I started to get more serious with my passion of photography and when I had saved enough I was able to purchase my first serious DSLR (Olympus OM-D EM 5 Mk I) and began branching out from primarily landscape photography, to travel and events.

As I have continued to develop my skills over the years I have also started to include portraits and promotional photography in my portfolio. Continuing to exclusively shoot with Olympus where possible, I have recently transition to the TG-6 for my underwater photography. This system allows me to achieve amazing results as an amateur underwater photographer, at a fraction of the price.

Continuing from the very start, I have also always dabbled a little into videography and its ability as a medium to tell a story and touch people through the power of social media. Videography introduced by to drone systems, which opened up a whole new genera of aerial photography and access to expand my equipment out to include DJI drones.

Differing from many photographers, I try to remain as versatile as possible and offer a wide range of services, while always being up for any challenge as an artist and content creator.

After a number of comments from friends and those that have been exposed to my photography, I have begun offering fine art prints for personal and commercial use.

Over the last few years I have upgraded to better professional Olympus systems, remaining increasingly impressed with the quality and versatility of the compact Micro 4/3 system. I have also developed new skills and taken on the challenge of light modification, through the use of off-camera flash. I continually find myself wanting to photograph beautiful and interesting places and people; and through livingin Papua New Guinea since 2016, I have been fortunate to have had some amazing experiences.

My photography these days is a mix of Landscapes and Artistic Portraits, with a bit of underwater and commercial work thrown in for good measure. I always try to capture images from a new perspective, that most people either haven’t seen before; to share the way that I see the world.

I am continuing to grow as a photographer and hope to reach a level that I would feel comfortable to take that leap and become a full time photographer and enjoy as much of this beautiful world as possible.

If you have any questions about acquiring my services for a shoot or project you would like done, order a print or even just want to ask me a question about a place I have been; please send me a message through the contact page and I will get back to you.
